LinkedIn IHMPlatform has announced the retirement of its chair, John Weguelin, after six years in the role #UKhousing

The Midlands landlord said yesterday that Mr Weguelin would step down at the end of this month.

Helen Gillett will take up the role of chair, and has been working alongside Mr Weguelin over the past three months to ensure a smooth transition.

The outgoing chair joined Platform in 2020, following a career in financial services in the City and over 10 years working with housing associations.

Mr Weguelin had previously been a non-executive director at both Sovereign Housing Association, before it merged with Network Homes, and Stonewater.

Platform said he has “championed a strong customer-focused approach” during his time as chair.

He said: “Being involved in housing and Platform has been an absolute privilege and one of the most rewarding periods of my working life.”

Kevin Bolt, interim chief executive of Platform, said Mr Weguelin has “provided outstanding leadership” and has guided Platform “through a period of significant change and growth”.

Mr Bolt continued: “His focus on doing the right thing for our customers and his commitment to our people has helped shape the organisation we are today.

“On behalf of everyone at Platform, I would like to thank John for his dedication, support and leadership over the past six years and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Platform said that Mr Weguelin will continue his role as chair of Griffin, a fintech bank, and is “considering further opportunities within the housing sector, where he believes there remains significant opportunity to make a difference”.
